Some 1,020 new cases and ten new deaths attributed to Covid-19 have been recorded nationwide over the previous 24 hours, bringing the total to 116,890 including 7,064 actives cases and 421 deaths.

Of the daily total, 1,018 were classified as community infections and two as imported cases-all recorded in Vientiane, the National Taskforce Committee for Covid-19 Prevention and Control reported today.

The local transmissions included 432 cases reported in Vientiane, 83 in Luang Prabang, 80 in Xayaboury, 67 in Oudomxay, 62 in Luang Namtha, 46 in Vientiane (province), 36 in Phongsaly, 34 each in Bokeo and Xieng Khuang and 32 in Huaphan.

Director General of the Department of Communicable Diseases Control, Ministry of Health, Dr Rattanaxay Phetsouvanh told a press conference that some 1,435 Covid-19 patients were discharged from hospitals nationwide yesterday.

The new deaths included seven in Vientiane, two in Vientiane (province) and one in Khammuan.
