MANILA: Over 138,000 agrarian reform beneficiaries (ARBs) have so far received land titles under the administration of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., according to the Presidential Communications Office (PCO).
A day before Marcos delivers his third State of the Nation Address (SONA), the PCO said in a social media post that a total of 138,056 ARBs have already received land titles from July 2022 to July 10, 2024.
The PCO said it was in line with the promise of the President during his second SONA that he would continue to implement the agrarian reform program of the government.
Likewise, the PCO also noted how Marcos sfulfilled his promise in his first SONA in 2022 to pass a law that will ’emancipate the agrarian reform beneficiaries from the agrarian reform debt burden.’
Marcos signed into law the Republic Act No. 11953 or the New Agrarian Emancipation Act on July 7, 2023.
Marcos has promised to finish the agrarian reform program during his term.
The program started in 1972 when Marcos’ father and n
amesake, the late President Ferdinand E. Marcos Sr., issued Presidential Decree 2 that set a land reform program in the country.
The President is set to deliver his third SONA on Monday at the Batasang Pambansa in Quezon City before a joint session of Congress.
