As part of the “Fête de la Francophonie 2021”, AUF Laos and le Pôle Francophone organized in partnership with the National University of Laos and the Embassy of Switzerland on Mar 16, the 4th edition of the “Grand Concours Karaoké Francophone”.
The contest drew nine contestants including five students and four teachers. The event was also broadcast live on Facebook @AUF.Ventiane.
Themed “Sustainable Development”, the event also aimed to promote the use of French language in the Lao PDR.
“The Francophone Festival is a symbol of our shared history with France and also extends to the friendships and exchanges we have with people regionally and internationally through the French language. It is a mirror of solidarity between higher education institutions and between people,” said Ms Somchanh Bounphanmy, Vice President of the National University of Laos.
“Today cultural activity is a great way for students to build up their language skills and practice cultural activities,” added Ms Somchan.
Miss Maniphet Luanglith, a student of the Faculty of Letters, won the first prize of the competition as Doualao Chueseng, a student of the Faculty of Letters, was announced as the first runner-up and Baramy Meungphilom as the second runner-up.
As for the teacher category, Souvannapha and Latdany was awarded first place as Sikko Milakong and Laongdao Bounchaleun were announced first runner-up and second runner-up respectively.
Fourth place winners in each category received karaoke sets, Bluetooth speakers as well as numerous prizes offered in partnership with the Swiss Embassy.
