70th Chinese National Day Marked In Vientiane

(KPL) Chinese Ambassador to Laos, Mr Jiang Zaidong hosted a reception party to mark the 70 anniversary of China’s National Day in Vientiane on Friday, Sep 27.

President of the National Assembly Pany Yathortou, Head of the Party Central Committee’s Office Khamphan Phommathat, Head of the Party Central Committee Propaganda and Training Board Kikeo Khaykhamphithoun, representatives of foreign diplomatic corps and relevant officials attended the event.

Over the past 70 years, the Communist Party of China has united and led the people of all ethnic groups throughout the country to rise up to difficulties to forge ahead, strive to move forward with perseverance, achieving tremendous development of the economy and society of China.

China has achieved a leap forward in a journey from standing up to growing rich and becoming strong as China’s GDP has leaped from 67.91 billion yuan in 1952 to 90.03 trillion yuan in 2018, an increase of 174 times in real terms, accounting for nearly 16% of the world economy. Per Capita GDP has improved from 119 yuan to 64,600 yuan.

The mileage of railways in service reached 132,000 km, the mileage of high-speed railways reached 30,000 km ranking the second and first in the world respectively. Nearly 80 million new jobs in cities and towns were created, and over 80 million of population living in rural areas have been alleviated from poverty.

China has lifted around 750 million people above the poverty line. Since 2003, China has signed 17 free trade agreements with 25 countries and regions and the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) has gained supports from over 160 countries around the world.
