72nd Mass Media and Publishing Day marked

A rally to mark the 72nd Mass Media and Publishing Day was held at National Culture Hall in Vientiane in the presence of Minister of Mrs Suanesavanh Vignaket, senior officials and media representatives.

Deputy Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism, Mr. Phosy Keomanivong, recalled a long history and outstanding achievements of the reporters and publishing works over the past seven decades (13/8/1950-13/8/2022) in contributing to the missions of fighting for the national dependence, national protection and development in the new era.

Over the past six months of this year, the implementation of the media personnels’ works have been seen to be successful in many aspects by showing the performance of the duties according to their responsibilities, especially the promotion of various important works of the Party, the government widely, systematically and continuously so that the society and the people have received the correct and useful information, Mr Phosy said.

The mass personnel has actively sacrificed to the work despite the difficulties encountered, including Covid-19 epidemic and the economic crises and financial issues, he continued.

In a speech to mark the 72nd Mass Media and Publishing Day, Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism, Mrs Suanesavanh Vignaket has said the mass personnel should pay more attention to issues of public concern and analyse current events so that people were better informed.

Mrs Suansavanh highlighted some media outlets continue to face challenges with regard to their organisational structure, lack of skilled personnel, and financing to support the provision of high quality news.
