94 Million Kip Provided as Relief Aid for Vietnam’s Disaster Victims

(KPL) Deputy Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Public Security Mr Anoudeth Khounkham on Friday presented LAK 94 million to Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare Lipao Yang as relief aid for the victims of Typhoon Damrey in Vietnam in 2017.

A handover ceremony of the relief aid took place in Vientiane on January 9 in the presence of relevant officials.

‘The money will be shortly given to the Vietnamese people who have been affected by recent natural disaster. This amount of money represents donations by individuals, enterprises, and organizations under the Ministry of Public Security. The amount will be used to help restore the normal livelihood of the affected families, said Mr. Lipao Yang.

On January 30, the Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare presented 166 million kip to the Vietnamese embassy in Vientiane as relief aid for the victims of Typhoon Damrey in Vietnam.

Typhoon Damrey hit southern and central Vietnam early November last year claiming dozens of people’s lives and leaving more than 40,000 homes damaged.

The worst affected area was Nha Trang, about 500 km south of the coastal city of Da Nang the host city of an APEC Summit.
