A contract on consulting services for the University of Health Science Hospital Construction Project was signed in Vientiane on Jan 7 between Acting President of the University of Health Sciences Bounthom Samountry and Lee Dong-kun, Chairman of the Consulting Group of the Seoul National University Hospital, R. Korea. Minister of Health Bounfeng Phoummalaysith and representatives of relevant authorities witnessed the signing ceremony.

“This first university hospital construction project of the Lao PDR is the largest and very important. It is funded with a low-interest loan of US$120 million from the Republic of Korea,” said Minister of Health Bounfeng Phoummalaysith. The project will include a classroom building and a 400-bed medical building. They will be fully equipped with medical and educational equipment. “It will be used for teaching and training medical workers to serve the society, especially central and provincial hospitals as well as those in remote areas,” said the minister.
