Algeria and South Africa signed Tuesday in Algiers a Memorandum of Understanding on the political consultations.
The Memorandum of Understanding has been signed by Foreign Minister Ramtane Lamamra and South Africa Minister of International Relations and Cooperation, Maite Nkoana Mashabane.
This memorandum covers the political consultations between the two countries and on the minute on the 6th Algerian-South African High Bilateral Commission of Cooperation.
Lamamra told the press after the signing ceremony that the two countries “are in the process of expanding and strengthening existing agreements to open new horizons for cooperation, across a variety of areas.”
The meeting will be followed by “interactions between ministers and senior officials from both countries to boost their cooperation, which is expected to raise up in the near future, to the level of strategic partnership, in line with the instructions by the Heads State of the two countries,” he added.
Nkoana Mashabane said the memorandum should “accelerate regular diplomatic consultations” between the two countries, noting that Algerian-South African Joint Committee on Trade and Investment will be put in place to accelerate economic cooperation.
