Antique aspirant for governor backs out to run as party-list rep

One of the earliest aspirants for governor in the Province of Antique has confirmed backing out from his original plan and instead is running as AnaKalusugan party-list second nominee.

Ray Roquero in a press conference on Tuesday said that he had already filed a Certificate of Nomination and Certificate of Acceptance of Nomination for party-list representative on Monday at the Commission on Elections at Manila Hotel Tent City.

‘As a party-list representative, I could help push for the full implementation of the Universal Health Law so that indigent patients no longer have to worry that they would still have out-of-pocket expenses for they needed to buy medicines that are lacking in the hospitals,’ Roquero said.

He said that their party-list advocates for the improvement of the health system, so he could still help his provincemates by passing laws aimed at attending to healthcare.

‘I could also help realize the creation of two districts in Antique as a party list representative,’ he said.

Roquero, the c
urrent provincial chair of the AnaKalusugan in Antique, served as senior deputy administrator of the Cagayan Economic Zone Authority from 2018 to 2022.
