Antique incumbent vice guv clarifies he is running for governor

Incumbent Vice Governor Edgar Denosta clarified he is pushing through with his plan to run for governor of Antique province in the 2025 midterm elections.

Denosta, in an interview on Thursday, said there was just a typographical error with his Certificate of Nomination and Acceptance (CONA) signed by Nacionalista Party president Manuel Villar, so he withdrew the documents, which he filed on Oct. 3.

‘I was advised by the Comelec that I should withdraw first my COC (certificate of candidacy) and CONA so I could submit the new one,’ he said.

He said there was a rectification on the docket number of the first CONA. He was issued a new CONA on Oct. 5, which he submitted to the Comelec on Oct. 8.

Denosta will be squaring off with Antique’s former representative Paolo Everardo Javier of Aksyon Demokratiko and independent aspirants Jonathan Tan, Vicente Fedelicio, Rodelo Pidoy, Rudy Bantolo, and Gaspar Gayona.

Another aspirant, Ray Roquero, announced on Tuesday that he opted to be the second nominee of the AnaKa
lusugan party-list.
