(KPL) The Vientiane office of the Agency Universitaire de la Francophonie (AUF) on Jan 31 awarded seven of its employees with honorific medals for long-term involvement.
The medals were awarded by Head of the AUF office in Vientiane Ms Julie El Moutaoukil Roussean in attendance of Deputy Minister of Education and Sports, Mr Khamphay Sisavanh, and relevant officials from the National University of Laos, the University of Health Sciences and the AUF team.
The medals were awarded to employees for their 10 to 15 years of work for the AUF Vientiane Office or the Institute de la Francophonie pour les Maladies Tropicales, according to a source from AUF.
The ceremony highlighted the fact that the AUF has been involved in Laos for more than 20 years, supporting the development of a quality French speaking higher education in Lao universities, taking part in the strengthening of the French speaking academic research, and assisting university members of the AUF network in institutional and organizational reforms to modernise infrastructure and enhance their development.
The agency each year awards a dozen of scholarships to students, for the most part enrolled for French speaking undergraduate degrees, in order to enable them to pursue their studies in French speaking Master’s degrees in the Asia-Pacific.
The AUF is also involved in the training of professors and trainers who regularly get to participate in workshops dealing with French language reinforcement, new teaching methods, digital learning or project management. These trainings take place in the context of their continuing education programme.
