Better commuting experience seen amid MM working hours adjustment

MANILA: Senator Francis Tolentino on Thursday expressed optimism that the decision made by the Metro Manila Council to adjust working hours can reduce traffic in the National Capital Region (NCR) during peak hours, and ‘improve commuting experience.’

“I commend the Metro Manila Council for their proactive approach in addressing the longstanding issue of traffic congestion in the National Capital Region. The decision to adjust working hours to 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. demonstrates a commitment to finding innovative solutions to alleviate the burden on commuters and improve overall transportation efficiency,” Tolentino said in a statement.

“This initiative represents a step in the right direction towards achieving a more sustainable and commuter-friendly Metro Manila.”

To further improve uniformity in working hours across government agencies, the former chairperson of the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) urged President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. to issue an executive order to this effect.

The MMDA Resolution
No. 24-08, which was adopted on Feb. 28, enjoined local government units of Metro Manila to enact their own ordinances to implement the modified working schedules.

It also recommended that the President issue an executive order to implement the new working hours.
