People are highly encouraged to give blood to ease rising blood demand for medical purposes in the Lao society.
A blood drive was held at Vientiane Center in Vientiane on Wednesday with an aim to celebrate the 3rd anniversary of the shopping centre.
Every year, we have an ambitious target to have around 60,000 people giving blood. However, in reality only 30,000 people give blood annually today, said Mr Sing Manolath, Vice President of Lao Red Cross.
Blood donation is especially needed for patients with thalassemia, anaemia, dengue fever, accident victims, among others.
On the same day, the Director General of the Vientiane Center Mr Sombat Siriphonwitaya donated one million kip each to the Vientiane Rescue and the Jai Huam Jai Foundation.
