Education authorities in Bokeo Province announced on November 22 the completion of the Lower Secondary Education Equivalency Programme.
The announcement ceremony was attended by Governor of Bokeo Province Mr Khamphan Pheryavong, Deputy Minister of Education and Sports Mr Boualane Siriphanya, and Director of the Education and Sports Department of Bokeo Province Mr Thongchan Phommahane.
During the announcement ceremony, Mr Thongchan said that Padoudom district was the last district of Bokeo Province and the 84th district in the country to have announced the completion of the Lower Secondary Education Equivalency Programme.
Over 8,000 students within Bokeo Province attended the Lower Secondary Education Equivalency Programme. The programme was targeted at people aged from 15-30, according to Mr Thongchan.
In 2010, Vientiane Capital was announced as the first area of the country to have fulfilled its implementation of the intensive primary education project. One year later Xieng Khuang announced completion of its Lower Secondary Education Equivalency Programme, followed by Champassak in 2012, Xaysomboun in 2015, and Bokeo in 2016.
