Buriram United Crowned Champion of Toyota Mekong Club for 2nd consecutive year

Toyota is proud and has congratulated Buriram United for being crowned champion of the Toyota Mekong Club Championship (TMCC) tournament.

This year is the second year that Buriram United has been crowned as champion of the Toyota Mekong Club Championship.

Buriram United received the championship trophy from Mr Kyoichi Tanada, President of Toyota Motor Asia Pacific and President of Toyota Motor Thailand.

During the first leg of the final round of the competition, the leading football team in Laos, Lanexang United, gained a 1-0 victory over the Buriram United FC at the Chao Anouvong Stadium on Jan 4.

In the second leg of the championship, Buriram United was victorious over Lanexang United with a score of 2-0 at the Thammasat Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand on 8 January 2017.

“I claim this victory for the team, because having lost in the first leg of the Toyota Mekong Club Championship 2016, we had to step up our game in the second leg,” said Mr Ranko Popovic, Head Coach of the Buriram United.

I told them that we must a score at least one goal in order to return to the game to us, added Mr Popovic.

Mr Tanada expressed congratulations to the Burirum United team for winning the crown of the Toyota Mekong Club Championship 2016 and also thanked all of the other participating teams for their dedication in playing and supporting the success of the Toyota Mekong Club Championship 2016.
