The Royal Government of Cambodia and the Swiss Federal Council are going to sign the Framework Agreement concerning Technical, Financial and Economic Cooperation as well as Humanitarian Assistance.
According to a press release of the Cambodian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MFA-IC) issued yesterday evening, this agreement will be inked this afternoon at MFA-IC by H.E. Hor Namhong, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of MFA-IC and H.E. Ivo Sieber, Ambassador of Switzerland to Cambodia.
The signing of this agreement reaffirms Switzerland’s commitment to supporting development in Cambodia, said the press release, indicating that currently, Switzerland’s annual financial engagement in Cambodia amounts to 12 million Swiss Francs or some US$12 million, focusing on local governance and citizen participation, agriculture and food security, skills development and employment, and Kantha Bopha Hospitals.
It should be noted that the Government of Switzerland has supported the Kantha Bopha Hospitals since 1994 with the total amount of US$55 million. The Swiss annual contribution to Kantha Bopha Hospitals is US$4 million.
