Cambodian Acting Head of State Wishes to Talk with Myanmar Leader


Acting Head of State of Cambodia, Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, has expressed his intention to meet with H.E. Sen. Gen. Min Aung Hlaing, Chairman of the State Administration Council of Myanmar via Videoconference to discuss the solution to the Myanmar crisis.

The intention was made known when Samdech Techo Hun Sen, also President of the Senate, received here this morning H.E. Kyaw Soe Min, Ambassador of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar to Cambodia.

In the meeting, Samdech Techo Hun Sen said that H.E. Kyaw Soe Min was the first foreign diplomat he met after he became the President of the Senate of the Kingdom of Cambodia as well as the Acting Head of State.

In response to the ongoing Myanmar crisis briefed by H.E. Kyaw Soe Min, Samdech Techo Hun Sen as the Senate President requested to meet with H.E. Sen. Gen. Min Aung Hlaing via Videoconference at any appropriate time before or after the Sankranta (New Year).

Samdech Techo Hun Sen recalled the suffering experienced by Cambodia after the
fall of the Khmer Rouge genocidal regime and the hard time during sanctions imposed by other countries, and underlined that the Win-Win policy has brought about national unity, peace, stability and prosperity to the Kingdom.

Besides, the Acting Head of State hoped that H.E. Ambassador will use his new role in promoting the relationship between the two countries, which will mark the 70th anniversary of the establishment of their diplomatic ties next year.

H.E. Kyaw Soe Min congratulated Samdech Techo Hun Sen on his election as the President of the 5th legislature of Senate and pledged to do his best to further strengthen the bilateral and multilateral cooperation within the ASEAN, regional and global frameworks.
