The government of China has provided CNY 33.3 million (Chinese currency) to support poverty reduction and development efforts in Vientiane and Luang Prabang between 2018 and 2020.
The funding will benefit Lao people in Sor village, Sangthong district, Vientiane Capital and Xienglome village, Luang Prabang district, Luang Prabang Province.
The funding will be spent on the construction of basic infrastructure including roads, bridges, water supply facilities, irrigation facilities, farmland expansion, training on agricultural production and the promotion of service businesses.
The funding will be also spent on the construction of landfills, schools, dispensaries, solar-power street lamp installation as well as the acquisition of educational equipment, the establishment of farmers’ groups and the promotion of rural tourism in the localities.
