Chinese Singing Contest Draws Crowded Audience

(KPL) The final round of Chinese Singing Contest 2018, the third of its kind, was held at National Culture Hall in Vientiane drawing thousands of Chinese nationals and Vientiane residents.

The event aimed to promote the friendship and tourism between Laos and China.

Lao woman Thinlamphone Mahavong, and Chinese contestant Wang Zhichen won the top prizes for Laos and China, respectively. They were rewarded a 13-million kip cash prize and one trophy each.

The first runner-up prizes were awarded to Mr Phonethida Khamsaisouk of Laos and Ms Wang Haiyi of China. They were rewarded 6 million kip each.

Thipphachan Kayavong from Laos and Liu Jian from China were announced as the second runners-up. Each of them was rewarded 3 million kip.

Congratulatory prizes were also presented to six people, three from Laos and another three from China. Each of them received 1 million kip as a prize.

The competition was organized by China Radio International (CRI) in cooperation with the Confucius Institute of the National University of Laos and Guangxi Television of China.

The Lao awardees will be also arranged a study tour in China under the sponsorship of the Confucius Institute.

A lucky draw was also held to reward the audiences with air tickets, smart phone and others as a prize.
