Covid-19 cases reach 94

The National Taskforce for Covid-19 Prevention and Control reported today 6 new cases of Covid-19 bringing the to 94.

The new cases include four in Vientiane, all linked to case 59 (a 25-years-old student of the National University of Laos), and one each in Savannakhet and Bokeo.

There are 94 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the Lao PDR including 45 active cases.

We have tested 14 people who have had close contact with the newly confirmed cases and now we are waiting for the test results, Deputy Minister of Health Phouthone Meuangpak told a press conference today.

“I would like to ask families and their relatives to participate in monitoring the outbreak situation. If one of your family members have returned from neigbouring countries where Covid outbreak is prevailing, please bring them to authorities so that they can be sent to quarantine centre and have their samples collected for test immediately so as to prevent the disease from spreading to other people or communities. Those who have had close contact with the infected or have visited risk places are highly advised to have a Covid-19 test at designated centres and isolate from your family and friends for 14 days,” said the deputy minister.
