COVID-19 cases rise to 436

Today witnessed 113 new Covid-19 cases reported with the total in the country reaching 436.

Fifty four new cases were reported in Champassak, 31 in Vientiane, 13 in Savannakhet, seven in Bokeo, two each in Oudomxay and Phongsaly, and one each in Vientiane (province), Luang Prabang, and Sayaboury, according to the National Taskforce for Covid-19 Prevention and Control.

During a press conference in Vientiane today, Dr Phonepadith Sangxayalath, Director of the National Centre for Laboratory and Epidemiology, Ministry of Health called on those who have had close contact with the infected or have visited risk areas to have Covid test at test centres, isolate themselves from family and close ones for 14 days.

The government and local authorities have imposed travel restrictions and banned people from leaving their homes unless with necessary reasons.
