Member of the Politburo and Secretary of Organization of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba Roberto Morales paid an official visit to the Lao PDR between Apr 28-30.
The Cuban Party official met with General Secretary of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party and President Thongloun Sisoulith in Vientiane on Apr 29.
General Secretary Thongloun highly valued the visit by the Cuban Party leader as a significant contribution to strengthening the traditional relations and solidarity between the two Parties, governments and peoples of Laos and Cuba.
The host informed the guest about the achievements the Lao PDR has made in its national protection and development cause over the past years and orientations of national socio-economic development for years to come.
He highly valued the cooperation between the two Parties, governments and peoples of Laos and Cuba and expressed heartfelt thanks for the priceless support and assistance the fraternal Party, government and people of Cuba have extended to the Lao PDR during the latter’s national liberation and its current times of national development.
He spoke highly of the leading role of the Communist Party of Cuba and appreciated the achievements of Cuba in its cause of national protection and development over the past 60 years and in its implementation of the resolution of the 8th National Congress of the Communist Party of Cuba (CPC).
He affirmed to continue to cooperate with the Cuban leader to deepen and make more fruitful the traditional relations between the two countries.
the Cuban Party leader expressed appreciation on the achievements in national protection and development made by the Lao people under the righteous and clear-sighted leadership of LPRP, noting that such achievements have constantly improved the living conditions of the Lao people, and raised the role and reputation of the Lao PDR at the regional and international arenas.
He highly valued the traditional relations between the two Parties, governments and peoples of Laos and Cuba and hoped that the Party, government and people of Laos will reap greater achievements in their national protection and development, and in implementing the resolution of the 11th National Congress of the LPRP.
On the same day, the visiting Cuban Party official also met with Politburo member and Permanent Member of the Party Central Committee Secretariat and Vice President Bounthong Chitmany.
Both sides informed each other about outstanding issues in their respective countries, and exchanged points of view on regional and international issues of common interest.
Both sides also signed three agreements – an agreement on exchange and cooperation between the two Parties, a memorandum of understanding between the National Academy For Politics And Public Administration and Ñico López Higher Communist Party School of Cuba and an agreement on cooperation between the Lao Revolutionary Youth Union and The Young Communist League of Cuba.
The senior Cuban Party leader also met with President of the National Assembly Xaysomphone Phomvihane and Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone.
