Deputy Prime Minister receives bid farewell to outgoing Malaysian Ambassador

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Saleumxay Khomasith received on Sep 12 a farewell visit from Malaysian Ambassador Mohd Aini Bin Atan as the latter has completed his three-year diplomatic tenure in the Lao PDR.The vice premier appreciated Mr.Mohd Aini Bin Atanfor his achievement in performing his diplomatic duty over the past five years, noting that he has actively contributed to strengthening the relations and cooperation between the Lao PDR and Malaysia.

The Deputy Prime Minister expressed his gratitude to the government and people of Malaysia for their generous provision of 783,400 doses of Covid-19 vaccine to help prevent and control the spread of the pandemic in the Lao PDR along with their assistance for post-pandemic socio-economic recovery efforts in the country.

The host also spoke highly of the role of the Malaysian ambassador in promoting the exchange of visits of high-level leaders between the two countries, the cooperation on power grid connectivity between Laos-Malaysia and Singapore, and the bilateral cooperation on economics, trade, investment, human resource development, tourism, culture as well as in contributing to the socio-economic development in the Lao PDR.

In reply, Mr. Mohd Aini Bin Atanexpressed his gratitude to the Lao government, especially the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, for their cooperation to help him fulfil his diplomatic duty, and expressed his hope that the Lao government will continue to provide cooperation to his successor so that Laos and Malaysia can further enhance relations and cooperation over years to come.
