The final football match of the Toyota Mekong Club Championship 2016 between the Lanexang United FC, the leading football team in Laos, and Buriram United FC of Thailand will compete against each other in Vientiane Capital.
The competition will be held at the Chao Anouvong Stadium, Vientiane Capital, on January 4, and will be broadcasted via the TV Lao HD Channel.
In the most recent match, Lanexang United gained a 3-0 victory over Cambodia’s BoeungKet Angkor FC at the National Olympic Stadium on December 31.
As the result, the Lanexang United FC will compete against Buriram United FC, the champion of the Toyota Mekong Club Championship 2015.
Although the Buriram United FC team has a lot of good players and is a strong competitor with most players coming from the Thai national team, we will do our best to prevail in this match against the Buriram United FC, said the Head coach of the Lanexang United FC, Mr Leonardo Vitorino.
“The cup final is vital for us, but we have a very capable team. I hope that the people of Laos will support us because it will be a fantastic final. We have many good players, but we also need the investment and support from our fans. It is the first time a team from Laos will play in the final of a major tournament, so hopefully there will be many fans coming to the game to cheer for us,” he said.
The second leg of the competition will be played at Thammasat Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand on 8 January 2017.
