(KPL) The Singapore Ministry of Foreign Affairs funded a weeklong training course on Sustainable Development and Urban Planning for 20 Lao government officials from 26 to 30 Nov 2018.
Held at the Lao-Singapore Training Centre in Vientiane, the course was conducted by Mr Steven Morris Townsend from Blue Track Center, Singapore.
The course aimed to provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of Singapore’s policies and frameworks in sustainable urban development and integrated planning.
The course also included sharing of Singapore’s urban and town planning policies and systems, as well as the mechanisms used for development in a modern city-state.
The course was conducted pursuant to the Initiative for ASEAN Integration (IAI).
Under the IAI, Singapore conducts 20 to 30 courses a year at the Lao-Singapore training Centre, focusing on areas of public governance, finance, urban management, hospitality and tourism, civil aviation, as well as IT skills and the English language.
About 600 Lao officials are trained each year and more than 13,000 Lao government officials have benefited from the Ministry’s various training programmes under the Singapore Cooperation Programme since 1993.
