DPM Saleumxay Kommasith attends AMM and related meetings

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Saleumxay Kommasith led a delegation of Lao officials to the ASEAN Ministers’ Meeting (AMM), the 26th ASEAN Political-Security Community Council Meeting (APSC) and 33rd ASEAN Coordinating Council (ACC) Meeting which are chaired by Indonesia under the theme “ASEAN Matters: Epicenter of Growth”.

At the AMM, ASEAN ministers were briefed about progress in building ASEAN Community, especially the implementation of ASEAN Vision 2025 and discussed the preparation of a draft of ASEAN Community’s Post-2025 Vision and ASEAN external cooperation and nations’ applications for membership to the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation in Southeast Asia (TAC).

As for the 26th ASEAN Political-Security Community Council Meeting, the participants were informed about progress in implementing activities and priorities of relevant sectors in ASEAN Political-Security Community, and the implementation of ASEAN Political-Security Community Blueprint 2025.

Meanwhile, participants of the 33rd ASEAN Coordinating Council Meeting were briefed about the implementation of “recommendations on strengthening ASEAN’s institutional capacity and effectiveness” and adopted an action plan for Timore Leste’s application for ASEAN membership. They also discussed preparations and key documents of the 42nd ASEAN Summit, to be held in Labuan Bajo, Indonesia on May 10-11.
