EDL Takes Loan from Thai Bank to Develop Electricity Line Network

Kasikorn Thai Bank has agreed to release a US$85 million loan to Electricite du Laos (EDL) to develop and expand the electricity transmission line network in rural areas of Laos and to ensure the export of electricity to the neighboring countries.

The signing ceremony for the loan was held in Vientiane Capital on Feb 2 between the Managing Director of Electricite du Laos, Mr Bounoum Syvanpheng and Senior Executive Vice President of Kasikorn Bank, Mr Patchara Samalapa.

The loan will be used for the construction of a 230-kilowatt transmission lines between Thabok district, Borikhamxay Province and Nabong village, Pak-Ngum district, Vientiane Capital as well as the construction of a substation, said Mr Bounoum Syvanpheng.
