The Lao govnement held a meeting in Champassak Province last Friday to discuss ways to put agreements made at the Regional Cooperation Summits into practice.
The meeting was held by the Economic Department under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, aiming to seek for the implementation of agreements made at the 9th Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam Development Triangle Forum, the 8th Cambodia, Laos, Myannar and Vietnam Summit and the 7th Ayeyawady-Chao Phraya-Mekong Economic Cooperation Strategy Summit.
The authorities of Saravane, Xekong, Attapue and Champassak provinces, which share common borders, have highly valuated the implementation of infastructure cooperation projects including improvement and upgrade of roads linking villages, districts and provinces; and construction of schools, hospitals and dispensaries. This will contribute to the promotion of commerce, investment and tourism in the region
The meeting also enabled participants to share experiences in overcoming obstacles found in five priority projects that had been adopted during the latest CLV meeting.
The meeting was attended by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affaris, Mr Thongphan Savanphet.
