GEORGE TOWN, The French Film Festival (FFF) is making a comeback for the 18th edition in Penang, starting from April 25 until May 5.
Organised by the French Embassy in Malaysia, Alliance Francaise Kuala Lumpur, Alliance Francaise de Penang, 15 award-winning French films will be showcased during FFF in Golden Screen Cinemas (GSC) Gurney Plaza.
Penang Exco for Tourism Development, Arts, Culture and Heritage Yeoh Soon Hin said the film festival offered an insight into the French culture through their diverse films of various genres, including drama, comedy, action and animation.
Aside from FFF, Yeoh said that France and Malaysia share a strong bond through an exchange programme for artists with the French city of Arles.
We look forward to fostering close ties and welcoming more festivities in the near future to make Penang a vibrant cultural hub for all, he said in his speech during the FFF opening ceremony tonight.
Also attending the opening ceremony were French Ambassador to Malaysia Frederic Laplanche and Alliance Francaise de Penang president Haryany Mohamad.
Festival enthusiasts can look forward to Le French Festival 2019 which made its debut in Kuala Lumpur from April 4 to 28, Penang � April 25 to May 5, Johor Baru � May 2 to 5, Kota Kinabalu � May 9 to 12.
Meanwhile, GSC manager for Film Festivals and International Screens Tan Gaik Lian told Bernama that 4,423 admissions had been recorded so far for FFF in Kuala Lumpur.
