Four state sectors have signed a fund raising project for school bags and education equipment to assist primary and secondary students in remote and rural areas nationwide.
Signing the document for the fund raising project on May 31 were the Lao Artist Association (LAA), the Lao National Library, the High School Education Department and the Handicap State Enterprise. The ceremony was held at the National Culture Hall in Vientiane, Lao PDR.
The project will run for next five years (2017-2022), and will aid under privileged students in primary and secondary schools.
The agreement was signed by Director of the High School Education Department of Ministry of Education and Sport Sisouk Vongvichith, Vice President of the Lao Fine Arts Association Department Douangchampy Soutthisack, Director of the Lao National Library Khanthamaly Yangnouvong, and the Director of Handicap State Enterprise Phailat Chalernthungsombat, and was witnessed by Deputy Minister of Information, Culture, and Tourism Bouangern Saphouvong and relevant officials.
Vice President of the Lao Fine Arts Association Department Mr Douangchampy said that the fund would purchase school bags and education equipments for primary and secondary schools students across the country.
This project is to inspire the students to study, learn,read, and write, and also to establish afund for the Lao Fine Arts Association for human resources development, and to promote Lao culture along with education programmes.
The project will begin in PakNgum and Sangthong Districts, Vientiane Capital, before expanding to 49 other districts. Approximately 1 million students are expected to benefit from this project.
