The Civil Service Commission (CSC) announces the semi-finalists for the 6th Government Choral Competition.
Eight choral groups from government agencies around the country were chosen among the entries that were screened from May 2 to June 17.
The semi-finalists for Luzon are the DasmariAas City Teachers Chorale and the Pangasinan Provincial Chorale; for Visayas, the Guimaras Capitol Chorale; for Mindanao, the Bayugan City Educators Chorale, Tagum City Chamber Chorale, and the Davao City Teachers Choir; and for the National Capital Region, the Bangko Sentral Singers and Pag-IBIG Fund Chorale.
The semi-finalists will compete in the grand finals night to be held on Sept. 13 at the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) Main Theater in Pasay City.
Winners will receive cash prizes and a plaque. The grand prize winner will receive P200,000; P150,000 for the first runner-up; P100,000 for the second runner-up; and P75,000 for the third runner-up.
Non-winners will each receive P50,000 consolation prize and a certificate.
Special prizes will also be given out. The Best Arrangement of the Competition Song and the Best Conductor will each receive P10,000 cash prize and a certificate, while the Best Regional Entry for each island group will receive a plaque.
Organized by the CSC in partnership with the CCP and the National Commission for Culture and the Arts, the Government Choral Competition is one of the major events of the 116th Philippine Civil Service Anniversary on September, which aims to showcase the musical creativity of talented government employees, promote Filipino culture and arts through choral singing, and inculcate in the minds of public servants a culture of excellence in public service.
