Gov’t, Development Partners Discuss Macroeconomic Affairs

A high level meeting between the government of Laos and development partners was held on Jun 29 in Vientiane Capital to discuss macro economic affairs.

The meeting provided the Lao government, development partners and the private sector the opportunity to evaluate the development situation and seek prompt solutions to existing challenges.

The meeting was co-chaired by Kikeo Chanthaboury, Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment, Yasushi Negishi, Country Director of Lao PDR Resident Mission of ADB and Cherry Birmingham, Resident Representative of the World Bank to Laos.

Representatives of foreign embassies in Laos, international organisations, and relevant sectors took part in the meeting.

The participants discussed economic development, future trends, budget management, amended GDP calculation standards, the estimation of factors affecting economic growth, revenue and expenditure management measures, the business environment, investment promotion and debt management.

The discussion at the meeting also focused on economic stabilization, macromanagement and possible solutions to problems and challenges.
