Minister of Foreign Affairs Saleumxay Kommasith, representing the government of Laos, pinned a Friendship Medal on outgoing Indonesia Ambassador to Laos, Mr Irmawan Emir Wisnandar, in recognition of his contributions to strengthening the friendly relations and cooperation between Laos and Indonesia.
Irmawan Emir Wisnandar has served his diplomatic mission in Laos since 2014.
At amicable talks in Vientiane on Nov 24, Minister Saleumxay spoke highly of the efforts made by the ambassador in strengthening cooperation in various areas between Laos and Indonesia and expressed thanks to the government of Indonesia for its provision of scholarships to Lao PDR to help the country prepare for the hosting of the 28th and 29th ASEAN Summits and related summits in Vientiane in 2016.
In reply, the Indonesian Ambassador expressed his gratitude to the government and the Lao people as well as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lao PDR for the cooperation and supports extended to him during his diplomatic tenure in Laos.
This year marks the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Laos and Indonesia (Aug 30, 1957-2017).
In order to celebrate the diplomatic anniversary, the two countries have jointly organized events and activities such as trade and tourism fairs, photo exhibition and seminars on various topics.
