Japan donates additional medical equipment to help Laos fight COVID-19

The Government of Japan has recently decided to provide emergent grant aid worth approximately 710,000 USD for 100 oxygen concentrators, 100 suction pumps and 100 patient monitors in response to the current surge of COVID-19 infections in Laos.

10 patient monitors have been already delivered to Vientiane as an early harvest and they are expected to be utilized to take care of COVID-19 patients with the collaboration of UNOPS. The rest of the equipment is also scheduled to arrive before the end of October.

In August, the Japanese government also donated approximately 600,000 doses of AstraZeneca vaccines produced in Japan.

Japan, together with other development partners, will continue to support the Government and people of Laos to overcome this difficult situation, according to Japanese Embassy in Vientiane.
