Representatives of Japanese companies who are on a visit to Laos have shown interest in investing in the service sector in Laos, the Executive Vice President Tatsuhiro Shindo of the Japan External Trade Organisation (JETRO) has said.
The number of Japanese companies in Laos has doubled since 2012 to currently over 130. Their investment mostly goes to the services, manufacturing, agriculture, trade and investment sectors.
The visiting representatives led by JETRO Executive Vice President Tatsuhiro Shindo met Minister of Industry and Commerce Khemmany Pholsena in Vientiane yesterday.
At the amicable talks, the minister highly valued the visit by the Japanese investors as their visit will result in opportunities for Lao business people to exchange lessons and build partnerships with their Japanese counterparts.
She said that the visit also contributed to enhancing the relations and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries of Laos and Japan.
