(KPL) The Ambassador of Japan to the Lao PDR Takeshi Hikihara met Governor of Attapeu Province Let Xayaphone on Dec 17 in Vientiane.

The two mainly exchanged views on the disaster recovery and the Ambassador handed a heartfelt donation to the governor.

The Ambassador had received a letter from a Japanese citizen called Ms. Masae Sakai with a donation of 100,000 Japanese Yen for those who were affected by the flood in Attapeu Province.

Ms. Masae Sakai is the spouse of Mr. Hiroomi Sakai, who served as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Lao P.D.R. from 1995 to 1999.

He passed away last year.

Mr. Sakai had a great attachment to the Lao PDR. After his retirement, he established Kumamoto Laos Friendship Association in his hometown of Kumamoto, Japan.
