Kenthao district is accelerating restoring situation back to normal following floods taking place on Jul 27-28.
Short and long term restoration measures have been planned by local authorities.
The flood event caused severe damages to almost 100 households in Nong village and Pong Deng village. Cost of damages to people’s properties and public utilities has been estimated at over 15 billion kip.
Local authorities have assigned staff to collect data on the damages caused by the natural disaster and provide psychological assistance to victims’ families along with relief aid.
The district said that its long term restoration efforts would include the relocation of households affected by the disasters.
The district held a meeting on Aug 2 to discuss its restoration efforts in the presence of Vice Governor of Xayaboury Province Mr. Phengnilun Khamphunpheng and Governor of Kanthao district Mr. Samlan Souvannasod and relevant officials.
