The Korean International Cooperation Agency has provided over US$ 6 million as grant aid to support the capacity building of the Savan-Seno Special Economic Zone on the management of geographic data between 2018-2021.
The agreement on the grant support was signed on Mar 14 between Mr Kongkham Souliya, -Director of the Survey, Metrology and Mapping Centre of the Ministry of Home Affairs, and Mr Sungsoo Oh, Resident Representative of KOICA to Laos in the presence of Minister of Home Affairs Khammanh Sounvileuth, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to the Lao PDR Shin Sung-soon and relevant officials of both sides.
The capacity building project will benefit the development of the special economic zone, basic infrastructure, public utilities, urbanization, residential estate development, and environmental protection, as well as the planning of modern railway and airport facilities in the province in the future.
Under the capacity building project, local technical staff will be trained, domestically and in the Republic of Korea.
