Lao Airlines Launches Direct Flight: Luang Prabang-Shangsha

(KPL) Lao Airlines has launched another direct flight connecting Luang Prabang of Laos with Shangsha, Hunan of China.

The move aims to attract more tourists from Hunan, a south central province of China.

Laos and China are gearing up to promote and enhance cooperation on trade, investment, tourism, politics, education, culture and services in line with China’s Belt and Road Initiative.

This new route will be operated weekly on Wednesday.

Lao Airlines also operates direct flights between Vientiane and Shangsha. The air route was launched in 2015.

Luang Prabang is considered the top tourist destination in Laos, with 83 per cent of visitors citing it as their first choice, followed by Vientiane. Tourists generally visit temples, admire the architecture, make trips to waterfalls and caves, and observe the lifestyle of local people while enjoying a wide range of local and international cuisine.

The town was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1995, among 1,007 World Heritage Sites in 161 countries worldwide.
