On 11 July 2018 at the Government House in Canberra, Mr. Sisavath Inphachanh presented the Letter of Credentials to General Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC, Governor-General of the Commonwealth of Australia to serve as Ambassador of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic to Australia.
On this occasion, Governor-General expressed his warm welcome and congratulations to Mr. Sisavath Inphachanh upon his appointment as an Ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic to the Commonwealth of Australia.
The Ambassador conveyed to Governor-General warm greetings and best wishes from Mr. Bounnhang Vorachith, President of the Lao PDR, and expressed his high appreciation for the warm welcome and organization of this special ceremony for presentation of credentials.
Ambassador Sisavath Inphachanh briefed Governor-General on the socio-economic development of the Lao PDR, highly valued the fruitful cooperation between the two countries at bilateral, regional and international levels.
The Ambassador, on behalf of the Government and People of the Lao PDR, expressed sincere thanks and appreciation to the Government and people of Australia for Australian continued support and assistance that have significantly contributed to the development of the Lao PDR, and looked forward to the continuation of the support and assistance in the years to come.
Governor-General expressed appreciation for Lao PDR’s cooperation with and support to Australia on regional and international affairs and affirmed that Australia would continue its assistance and support to the Lao PDR both bilaterally and internationally.
Laos and Australia established their diplomatic relations on 15 January 1952.
