(KPL): On the occasion of attending the 8th Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS) Summit, the 11th Cambodia-Laos-Myanmar-Vietnam (CLMV) Summit, and chairing the 10th Ayeyawady-Chao Phraya-Mekong Economic Cooperation Strategy (ACMECS) Summit on Nov 6-7, 2024, in Kunming, China, Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone met with Sen. Gen. Min Aung Hlaing, Prime Minister of Myanmar, to discuss advancing cooperative relations. During this meeting, both leaders highly appreciated the longstanding friendly relations and close cooperation between Laos and Myanmar.
According to Lao News Agency, both leaders expressed confidence that their meeting would further strengthen the bonds of friendship and collaboration between the two countries, yielding increasing benefits for the people of both nations. They also agreed to assign their respective Ministries of Foreign Affairs to discuss activities to celebrate the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations in 2025. Additionally, they deliberated on future cooperation, especially in areas
of cross-border cooperation, labour, energy, trade and investment, connectivity, and tourism.
Furthermore, the two sides exchanged views on regional and international issues of mutual interest. This meeting underscores a continued commitment to enhancing bilateral relations and exploring new avenues for cooperation between Laos and Myanmar.
