The Lao-China cooperation committee held on Mar 25 a meeting to disseminate the results of the 10th meeting of the Laos-China Economic, Trade and Technical Cooperation Committee and the 11th meeting of the committee on cooperation between northern provinces of Laos and Yunnan Province of China.
The meeting was co chaired by Vice President of the Laos-China Cooperation Committee Khenthong Sisouvong and Vice Governor of Oudomxay Province Onkeo Ounalom in the presence of over 80 representatives from relevant authorities in northern provinces and Vientiane.
The meeting reviewed economic, technical and trade cooperation between Laos and China over the past years, mechanisms designed to promote the cooperation between the northern provinces of Laos and Yunnan Province of China.
The participants were also briefed on a cooperation plan for years to come and the procedures aid seekers need to complete in order to secure assistance from the Chinese government.
The Laos-China cooperation committee plays an important role in contemplating and materializing Laos-China cooperation policy, strengthening cooperation between the two countries, especially on economic, trade and technical affairs.
The recent years have witnessed an increase in Chinese grant assistance to Laos.
China is the second largest trade partner for the Lao PDR. Meanwhile, China ranks first largest foreign investor with the number of Chinese visitors in the Lao PDR on a rise.
