Themed “People regard food as important,” the event offered participants a taste of unique Lao and Chinese dishes and insights into the cultural and medicinal significance of food ingredients.
According to Lao News Agency, Mr. Desanulath Senduangdet, Acting Dean of the National University of Laos, emphasized the festival as a chance for students to experience China’s culinary heritage. He noted that beyond flavor, the foods carry cultural traditions from diverse regions across China. He also acknowledged the Confucius Institute’s role in fostering Lao-Chinese cultural exchanges and advancing language education, which contributes significantly to bilateral cooperation.
Chinese Embassy representative, Mr. Tu Zhangxing, remarked on the festival’s importance, as 2024 will mark the 15th anniversary of the Laos-China comprehensive strategic partnership. He stated that the Confucius
Institute serves as a bridge for educational and cultural exchanges between the nations, adding that the festival strengthens mutual understanding and friendship, especially among the younger generation.
