The 2nd Lao-Vietnamese deputy ministerial level meeting between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Laos and Vietnam was held in Vientiane Capital on May 31.
The meeting was co-chaired by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Khamphao Eunthavanh and her Vietnamese counterpart Dang Dinh Quy.
This year marks the 40th anniversary of Lao-Vietnam Treaty of Amity and Cooperation (1977and the 55th anniversary of diplomatic ties (1962).
Both sides focused their discussion on improving cooperation mechanisms, as the two ministries constitute secretariats with an important role in enhancing cooperation and relations between the two countries.
Both sides reviewed the implementation of documents signed by senior officials of the two countries, joint statements, agreements, the results of the 39th meeting of the Laos-Vietnam Intergovernmental Committee, as well as the implementation of a cooperation plan between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Laos and Vietnam.
Both sides also valued the contribution of the two ministries coordinating relevant ministries and sectors of the two countries in promoting and monitoring the implementation of agreements signed by party and government leaders of Laos and Vietnam.
