(KPL) The 5th Lao Wood Furniture Fair was opened on Jan 14 to promote local manufacturers of timber, bamboo and rattan furniture, and handicraft products.
Held at the Lao ITECC in Vientiane Capital on Jan 14 to 20, 2019, the launching ceremony of the event witnessed the presence of Vice Minister of Industry and Commerce Phanthong Phitthoumma.
The fair is the gathering of best local wood furniture products for curious domestic and foreign customers, said Lao Furniture Association President Khamphay Somsana.
This year witnesses 177 booths representing 74 businesses. Out of these, 16 represent businesses from 11 provinces, said LFA Vice President Kongmala Phommalay .
The objective of the fair is also to promote the competitiveness of domestic timber product manufacturers at both domestic and international markets, and awareness of forest protection and forest resource management as well as sustainable development of the wood furniture industry.
The fair also provides opportunity for exchanging new ideas, allowing furniture makers to share lessons learnt so that they can make better quality goods and provide better services, he said. Seminars, lucky draws, live performances and wood carving demonstrations will be held on the sidelines of the event.
