Laos and Brunei enhance cooperation on trade economic and investment

Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Lao PDR, Mr. Saleumxay Khommasith, Chairman of the Joint Committee on Lao-Brunei Bilateral Cooperation, led the Lao delegation to attend the 3rd meeting of the Joint Committee on Lao-Brunei Bilateral Cooperation (JCBC-3), in theBandar Seri Begawan capital, Brunei Darussalam on August 9-11.
According to the invitation of Dato Erywan Pehin Yusof, Second Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Brunei Darussalam, Chairman of the Joint Committee on Brunei-Lao Bilateral Cooperation to enhance the friendship and cooperation between the two countries Lao-Brunei to be deeper and more effective.
On August 10, there was a Bilateral Cooperation Committee of Lao-Brunei, Brunei-Lao 3rd Bilateral Cooperation Committee meeting (JCBC-3) co-chaired by Mr. Saleumxay Kormasit and Mr. Erywan Pehin Yusof.
The opening speech of the meeting Mr. Saleimxay Kormasit expressed his congratulations to Mr. Erivan Perhin Yusop on the occasion of being appointed as the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Brunei Darussalam for another term and expressed appreciation for the great success in the ASEAN chairmanship of Brunei Darussalam in 2021.
He also expressed his gratitude and appreciation to the government of the Lao PDR for providing support to Brunei in the ASEAN chairmanship in the past year until it was successful.
In the meeting, the two sides appreciated the friendly relations and good cooperation between the two countries Lao-Brunei which has been enhanced day by day effectively and efficiently. At the same time, the meeting also reviewed the results of the development of the mental content of the 2nd bilateral cooperation memorandum in the past.
The two sides expressed their pleasure to continue cooperation in politics-security, national defense-peace protection, and congratulated the military training and exchange which has taken a good step, agree to promote and enhance cooperation on economic, trade-investment by coordinating harmoniously through the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the two countries, encourage cooperation in agriculture, especially possibility study of buying and selling rice and agricultural products, agree to continue cooperation in industry, energy, trade-investment, air transportation, education, sports, human resource development, Labor and social welfare, women’s cooperation and others.
In addition, the two sides jointly discussed the direction of the future cooperation plan to expand and cover many areas of cooperation, aiming to promote cooperation to be more efficient and effective in order to bring real benefits to the people of the two nations Laos-Brunei.
In the coming year of 2023, the two countries agreed to jointly organize various important activities to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the establishment of Lao-Brunei diplomatic relations (27/07/1993-27/07/2023).
After complete the meeting, the two sides jointly signed to approve the minutes of the joint committee meeting on Lao-Brunei Bilateral Cooperation, Brunei-Laos 3rd (JC BC-3) with success and the Lao PDR will host the 4th Lao-Brunei bilateral cooperation committee meeting.
