Vientiane: Deputy Prime Minister Saleumxay Kommasith of Laos met with Deputy Prime Minister of Vietnam Ho Duc Phoc during his official visit and working trip to the Lao PDR from 12-13 November 2025. The meeting was marked by open and cordial discussions, with both leaders reaffirming their commitment to bolstering the traditional friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation between Laos and Vietnam.
According to Lao News Agency, the Deputy Prime Ministers praised the progress made in bilateral cooperation, highlighting the frequent high-level exchanges and close collaboration between ministries, sectors, and local authorities of both nations. They reviewed the outcomes of the recent meeting between the two Politburos and assessed the implementation of the Lao-Vietnam Cooperation Agreement for 2025, which has resulted in tangible advancements in multiple sectors, including political and foreign affairs, national defense and security, education and human resource development, as well as econom
ic, trade, and investment cooperation.
Both sides agreed to promote and closely monitor the implementation of outcomes from the Politburo-level meeting and the 47th Meeting of the Lao-Vietnam Cooperation Committee. They emphasized expediting key strategic projects, such as the Vientiane-Hanoi Expressway, Vung Ang Port Projects 1, 2, and 3, and the Lao-Vietnam Railway Development Project.
The leaders also discussed joint solutions to challenges in specific projects, including the Potash Project in Khammouane Province and the rubber plantation project of the Vietnam Rubber Group. They further agreed to prepare comprehensively for the upcoming state visit to Laos by Comrade To Lam, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam, who will participate in the 50th Anniversary celebrations of the National Day of the Lao PDR. Coordination for the next Politburo meeting and the 48th Meeting of the Lao-Vietnam Cooperation Committee, scheduled for late 2025 in Laos, was also discussed.

uc Phoc and his delegation are set to inspect the Lao-Vietnam Friendship Park, a symbolic project representing the enduring solidarity and cooperation between the two Parties, States, and peoples of Laos and Vietnam.
