As of now, we have completed 80% of track laying. We expect to complete our track laying work by May 30, then bring the train from China in August and test run it by the end of this year,” said project manager of the China Railway No. 2 Engineering Group Hu Bin.
Senior media officials of Laos and China visited the construction site of the Laos-China railway project in Naxaythong district, Vientiane to inspect the progress of the Laos-China railway project.
“The Lao PDR, previously known as a landlocked country, now is connected with Laos-China friendship way connecting with the region. I hope that this project will strengthen the solidarity, friendship and mutual understanding between Lao and Chinese people,” said Director of the Lao National Radio Phosy Keomanyvong.
The Laos-China Railway is designed to be 414-km long stretching from the Laos-China border at Boten in northern Laos to Vientiane.
Launched in December 2016, the 6-billion-dollar project is scheduled to be completed and open to traffic in December 2021.
