Laos-China Railway to double passenger seats to 1,400

Laos-China Railway Company has planned to double the number of passenger seats of the Laos-China Train from currently 700 to 1,400 per trip to ease rising demand for train service, according to Associate Engineer of the Laos-China Railway Company Vongthong Souphanthong.

“We understand that the rising demand for train transport service among passengers has led to that tickets are sold out faster than planned. To address this, we have provided a new ticket office at Vientiane Center Mall which is now under renovation and is expected to be open to the public very soon,” said Mr Vongthong.

The company has also discussed with technicians about how to make tickets available online in the near future, said Mr. Vongthong.

It is also working with the police to investigate into ticket resale cases.

“We are working with the police to find out who are involved in this kind of crime so that we can take legal actions against them,” said Mr Vongthong.

People are highly advised to only purchase train tickets from the ticket offices authorized by the Laos-China Railway Company.
