Laos, Chongqing strengthen cooperation

Lao Ambassador to China Khamphao Eunthavanh and Mayor of Chongqing Municipality, Sichuan Province, China, Hu Henghua have highly valued the relations and cooperation between the two Parties, governments and peoples of Laos and China.

Both officials noted that Laos-China Railway has become a symbol of friendship between Laos and China, transforming landlocked Laos into a landlinked country and complementing the Belt and Road Initiative of China.

During their amicable talks in Chongqing this week, ambassador Khamphao and her host highly valued the cooperation on economy, trade, and investment between Laos and Chongqing Municipality.

They expressed their belief that knownhow and funding from China and abundant potential in Laos will lead their bilateral cooperation to success thus bringing benefits to both sides.

Ambassador Khamphao is on a working visit to Chongqing Municipality (Jul 4-8) in response to the invitation of the Chongqing Foreign Affairs Office. The Lao ambassador also attended a meeting themed Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership – RCEP framewor and economic and trade cooperation between Laos and China which was co-organised by the Lao embassy in Beijing and the Chongqing Municipal Economic and Trade Commission.

She also joined Chongqing leaders in witnessing the signing of seven agreements on business, trade, and vocational education before visiting the Laos-China import and export goods distribution centre and taking part in the launching ceremony for import containers carried by the Laos-China Railway along the New Land-Sea corridor.

The ambassador also visited Chongqing Planning Exhibition Hall and Wulong Karst, Chongqing’s first world natural heritage site.
